History

21 years in the stack.

EXD was founded in 2005 to solve a specific problem: exhaust and high-temperature venting were being treated as a commodity line item on projects where they carried real code, life-safety and schedule risk. Twenty-one years later that is still the work.

What began as a single-line representative in the Bay Area now covers kitchen exhaust, specialty venting, high temperature exhaust, demand control ventilation and heat recovery for consulting engineers and mechanical contractors across Northern California, from historic San Francisco retrofits to university housing and institutional central plants.

The manufacturers changed, the codes changed, the buildings got tighter. The method did not: engineer it correctly on paper, then prove it on the roof.

What you're buying

Expertise over parts.

Anyone can quote a fan and a length of duct. The value we deliver is the engineering that comes before the part number: draft calculations, pressure profiles, listing selection, routing that survives the ceiling cavity you actually have.

We are paid for judgment. The equipment is how that judgment gets installed.

Pillars

What we stand for.

Precision

No shortcuts in high-temp venting. Every selection is deliberate, documented and traceable to a listing.

Accountability

We own the outcome from schematic through job site. If something needs fixing, we fix it.

Reliability

We do what we say, when we say it. Your schedule and ours depend on it.

Clarity

We translate factory engineering into field-ready answers. No corporate fluff, no high-pressure tactics.

Position

Where we sit.

We are the bridge between three parties: the consulting engineer writing the specification, the factory engineering the equipment, and the mechanical contractor installing it on a deadline.

We don't bid against contractors. We don't compete with engineers. We don't stock product as a distributor. What we do is hold the specification, the submittal and the field verification under one accountable point of contact.

When a project finishes without a change order, that is the outcome we are paid for.

Built to move air. Built to last.
